John Denver, a singer-songwriter who hails from Colorado who specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized with the award in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit following a performance with a small folk bands. It was co-written by and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized it was going to be an instant hit in the top 10. The singer recorded the song just a few days later when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
