John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who specialized in folk music, has touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. More than a few people beat a path to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular songs for his home state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. For many, Denver is the Colorado image. On my trips I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado The first thing they say are Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit following a performance with a small folk music bands. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could turn into a hit once the song was first heard by him. Danoff recorded the song within a couple of days of playing at Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
